West Jardot said that the Hungarian-Chinese strategic cooperative partnership has been developing in depth and achieved positive results. Hungary appreciates China's efforts to solve the Ukrainian crisis politically. Hungarian-Chinese and European-Chinese cooperation is an opportunity rather than a risk. Hungary welcomes China to increase its investment in Hungary and is willing to further enhance the level of cooperation with China in various fields and push bilateral relations to a new level.
Szijjártó said that in recent years, Hungary-China relations have been deepened and strengthened in all directions. It is understood that the third China-Central and Eastern European Countries Expo and International Consumer Goods Expo will be held in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province from May 16th to 20th.Hungary will participate in the event as the only guest of honor. Hungarian Foreign Minister Szijjártówill lead a delegation to attend the opening ceremony of the Expo, which fully reflects Hungary's support for "cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries" and its emphasis on bilateral relations.
Sino-Hungarian friendship goes back to ancient times. In recent years, with frequent high-level exchanges, strong political mutual trust, high-level development of bilateral relations and rapid growth of bilateral trade. According to statistics, in 2020, under the influence of the epidemic, the bilateral trade in goods between China and Hungary rose instead of falling, reaching a total of 11.69 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 14.4%;In 2021, the total bilateral trade in goods between China and Hungary continued to grow rapidly to US$ 15.71 billion, a year-on-year increase of 34.5%;In 2022, due to the slowdown of Hungary's domestic economic growth and other factors, the total bilateral trade between China and Hungary was US$ 15.522 billion, up 1.9% year-on-year. In 2022, China's export scale was 23.965 trillion yuan, of which China's export to Hungary was 69.822-billion-yuan, accounting for 0.29% of China's total export scale. Hungary is China's third largest trading partner in Central and Eastern Europe, and China is also Hungary's largest trading partner outside the EU. It is believed that Foreign Minister West Jardot's current visit to China will further promote the joint construction of "the belt and road initiative" and China-Central and Eastern European countries' cooperation, and push China-Hungary relations to a higher level.
